Perplexity Computer inside Microsoft 365 showing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and OneNote integration

I have been testing Perplexity Computer inside Microsoft 365 this week. It slots into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams directly. No tab switching. No copying URLs between windows.

That alone changes the workflow. Most AI tools sit in a side pane or a separate tab. You copy a sentence, switch apps, paste, then copy the result back. Computer is embedded. You stay inside the document, workbook or chat and the work lands where it should.

What I actually used

Excel pulls live web data and warehouse queries into a workbook. You describe the model you want, it reads the sheet, writes the formulas and walks through the logic. I asked for a forecast structure and it built the table, estimated rows and column references without clutter. Saving time on the setup step.

Word does redline-style previews before changes land. Run Deep Research on a draft and it drops in web citations and document references inline. The preview lets you accept or reject changes before they become part of the file. For executive notes, that matters.

PowerPoint turns a prompt, document or existing deck into slides. Edits are scoped. One slide or the whole deck, with preview then commit. I rebuilt a rough outline into a client-ready deck without leaving the app. The preview stage is what makes it usable. Blind generation rarely lands first try.

Outlook writes replies using the full thread and attachments. Meeting prep and account briefs get drafted from your mailbox without digging. It referenced attachments and earlier messages in the chain. No more re-explaining context to an AI.

In Teams you @mention Computer in a channel. It answers from internal knowledge, web data and apps like Salesforce and Amplitude. That blend is useful. Internal data gives the answer context. Web data fills the gaps. External apps surface live records without leaving the conversation.

SharePoint search across your file library and the live web in one query. Every answer cites its source. That is the part teams still need. When a chatbot guesses, trust disappears. Cited answers keep the conversation honest.

Where it fits

This is not a general AI browser. It is an Office co-pilot with live context and live citations. If you live in Office all day, try it. The roles map well onto real work. Excel models, Word drafts, PowerPoint decks, Outlook threads and Teams channels all get the same assistance layer without leaving the app.

The integration is available from Perplexity. Details and setup are at Perplexity Computer for Microsoft 365.
